There are discoveries that leave a mark, and this triple-axle Chevrolet van is undeniably one of them. Imagine a monster from 1980, carefully crafted from two vehicles, that does not go unnoticed on the road. It’s as if a construction truck decided to go on a road trip!

An Amazing Design

This van, which I consider one of my favorite discoveries, features a unique design that leaves no one indifferent. With a short wheelbase of 110 inches (about 280 cm), this model has undergone a transformation to become what it is today. It has been lengthened, probably with a clever mix of cutting and welding, which is no small feat. To be honest, it can’t be much longer than the ultra-long wheelbase version of 155 inches (about 394 cm) that Chevrolet introduced to its lineup in 1990. However, its charm lies in its rustic and unique side.

Strange Behaviors on the Road

An intriguing peculiarity of this van is that only the middle axle is powered. Imagine the scene: you maneuver on a steep slope and suddenly, the central axle finds itself suspended in mid-air. It’s the kind of situation that could make you shiver, even if it’s quite theoretical. But what about tight turns? The idea of seeing the rear wheels slightly deform due to an abnormal caster angle is not just a mere assumption.

Encounter in the Parking Lot

I was lucky enough to spot this van in a parking lot, where it managed to park with a certain flair. This allowed me to observe how it reacted during a tight turn. You can clearly see that the camber of the rear wheel is affected. It’s as if the tires are bending under pressure, a sight that is both fascinating and concerning.

A Unique Phenomenon

And this phenomenon is not limited to just one wheel. On the other side, the opposite effect occurs, which makes sense. After all, large buses and trucks often suffer from this type of tire wear. But here, it’s even more visible, almost caricatural. This wear testifies to a bold design that may seem unconventional but offers a fascinating glimpse into the driving experiences these vehicles can provide.

In conclusion, this triple-axle Chevrolet van is a true gem for car and mechanical enthusiasts. Its unique design and behaviors on the road make it a standout model, both fascinating and perplexing. For those who love to explore the roads with a touch of madness, this van could very well be the ideal companion.
