Production Record Achieved
BMW Group Plant Regensburg has reached a remarkable milestone, producing 356,901 vehicles in 2025, marking its highest production level in 40 years.

Historical Context
Since the start of its operations in 1986, the plant has manufactured an impressive total of 8.7 million vehicles. Armin Ebner, the plant director, stated: “This production record not only sets a new benchmark in our history but also significantly contributes to the total production of the BMW Group of over one million vehicles in Germany for the second consecutive year.”

Focus on Competitiveness
Continuous improvement has been at the heart of the plant’s success. Ebner emphasized that ongoing efforts to enhance competitiveness are essential. The facility has successfully reduced production costs by over 25% since 2019 through various efficiency measures.

Embracing Digitalization
Digitalization plays a crucial role in increasing productivity. The introduction of artificial intelligence for surface treatment and quality control, as well as a cloud-based traffic management system for parts supply, has transformed operations. Since early 2025, new vehicles are capable of navigating autonomously from the assembly line to the loading area.

Progress in Electrification
In 2025, over 150,000 electrified vehicles—either fully electric or plug-in hybrids—rolled off the production line. The BMW X1 was the flagship model, with over 266,000 units produced, closely followed by the BMW X2 with over 90,000 units.

Growth in Production and Employment
The plant was initially established with the commitment to produce 400 vehicles per day and create 3,500 jobs. As operations expanded, production capacity and the number of workers have significantly increased. By 2025, the workforce had reached around 9,000 employees, including approximately 380 apprentices.
